Having a deep relationship with God is easy and beneficial.
Hi, my name is Wisdom Epsi and I strongly believe that life is an easy place, and every aspect of life: Be it Marriage, Finance, and so on can be lived peacefully.
In all my articles where I talk about different problems people face daily, I ensure that my audience discovers the solution they are looking by the help of the Holy Spirit.
Having a deeper relationship with God can be very benefiting to a believer in this last days. Consider the following biblical examples:
Prophet Elisha in 2Kings 6:8 – 10.
8. Now the king of Aram was at war with Israel. After conferring with his officers, he said, “I will set up my camp in such and such a place.”
9. The man of God sent word to the king of Israel: “Beware of passing that place, because the Arameans are going down there.”
10. So the king of Israel checked on the place indicated by the man of God. Time and again Elisha warned the king, so that he was on his guard in such places.
Every time the enemy would make a plan to trap the children of God, the prophet will expose their plans. This was not because Prophet Elisha was omnipresence, neither does he have multiple eyes, NO!
It was because Elisha had kept the Principle that was meant for building a deep relationship with God who sees everything (Proverbs 5:21-23).
Abraham in Genesis 18:17
Then the LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do? (NIV)
This is the Almighty talking in the spiritual realm, on the throne above thrones from where He rules Kings, Princes and other forces and powers. In His quiet time while making plans for the action He was about to take, He chose to confide in a man – Abraham.
God is not accountable to anyone neither does He take advice from anyone, but this example shows that God values relationships and He is very committed to keeping His words. The boundaries between God and humans are His Laws.
A bond with Him in relationship makes you His focus and the apple of His eyes. He can come to you in the cool of the evening like He used to do with the first Adam (He has not changed).
Psalm 34:15 (NIV) says: “The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry;”
The righteous in this context refer to those who have that relationship with Him. He considers them His priority, the called and chosen.
Whenever we have this deep relationship with God, He will trust us with the secrets that He knows. Imagine someone in your family was going to be involved in an accident and before it happened, God exposed it to you, to ask the person not to go out that day.
Upon following your instruction, few minutes later the person heard that the vehicle he had wanted to join was involved in a fatal motor accident.
Questions to ponder?
- How can I establish this deeper relationship with Him?
- What are the practices that proves my relationship with Him?
- How would I know He has accepted me?
Caution
- God knew you before you became human. If you try to fake it, He knows.
- Come sincere and ready to journey with Him forever. He takes His relationships very serious, therefore once you have started plying the path, do not stop.
- This is not a trial and error Mathematics, Having a relationship with God is a possibility that requires commitment.
- From the start, if its not what you are used to, you will definitely burnout. When these signs come, know that you have started cracking the rocks into having a deeper relationship with God.
- Finally, there will be little test to check your convictions. How badly do you want this relationship? This question has always been the only thoughts on the heart of those who truly want a relationship.
Lets answer to the question:
How to Establish a Deeper Relationship with Him
- Study His Words Daily (Joshua 1:8): This is the very beginning of your journey. Studying the word is not just a religious ritual neither those it mean flipping through pages to see black inks written on white papers. The word of God is God Himself (John 1:1). The word is a passage into eternal reality – the domain of God. Since He is spirit, and your organs are not yet developed to catch His words directly from the realms of the spirit, His written words becomes very useful for communication which is the foundation of every relationship.
- Pray Every Day (2 Chronicles 7:14): Praying reflects humbleness, it show reverence. Building a deep relationship requires a committed prayer life. In a relationship, communication and feedback is the bases to an effective, result driven conversation. So it is with God, Studying the word is God talking to you while praying is you talking to God. Please note: your prayers should be based on His words else it will be out of point. Imagine talking to someone about your grades in school then in response the person telling started telling you about the journey of yesterday which is not related to the conversation, how would you feel?
- Worship and Praise (Acts 16:25): Praising God is the third practice on how to establish a deeper relationship with God.
- Obey His Commands (John 14:15): “If you love me keep my commandment”. Love is the seat of every union. Every relationship arises from the womb of love, in other words, relationship is the fruit of love. Therefore, love can now become the instrument to test you desire for a deeper relationship with God.
- Stop sinning.
Among others like Trust, Faith in God etc., listed above are the daily practices that can stand as the building blocks of your relationship with God.
How Do I Know He Has Accepted?
God will always keep His words, keep solidifying yourself in those practices. Be committed not wavering though there are time you may fall, do not remain on the ground. Rise and keep moving.
Conclusion
Today’s subject is very important to me as we are in the last days. There is not time than now, if you have not established that relationship. Remember His words in James 4:8 that says:
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
This is the fundamental Kingdom Principle the leads to a deeper relationship with God. If Paul, Elijah, Abraham, Elisha, Joseph, and all others recorded in the bible can do it, you too can do it
